Tontitown native Joseph Nguyen, known online as the “Hangry Pedaler,” launched his popular persona in 2019 to merge his two great loves: food and cycling. What began as a hobby sharing foodie snapshots on Facebook quickly evolved into a vibrant platform dedicated to both culinary adventures and biking. Five years later, Joseph’s unique blend of content has attracted over 23,000 followers, with his audience continuing to grow.
“It started off as a fun way to highlight restaurants, and it’s starting to become a legit side business with so many places reaching out to me,” Joseph said. “[I’m] truly honored with every email I get. I remember I was so happy when I hit 1k followers; now, I have close to 23,000, which is wild to me. It’s not a ton, but enough to where companies recognize it and want to work with me.”
Joseph’s Instagram presence has become a powerful force for promoting local restaurants and bars, leading to collaborations with major players in Arkansas’ tourism industry. Beyond social media, he’s been featured in magazines and is now partnering with Arkansas Heritage to highlight must-visit spots in Northwest Arkansas.
Reflecting on his journey, Joseph shared, “I got my first real bike in April 2015. My health was getting bad, so it was the doctor’s orders. Best decision ever! I love road cycling, and I ride all over. I recently got into gravel biking, and I’m hooked! Way fewer cars and the scenery is amazing.”
Whether he’s exploring new trails, discovering the latest restaurants in Northwest Arkansas, or picking up a tennis racket or pickleball paddle, Joseph’s passion for adventure is evident. And when he’s not outdoors, you’ll likely find him planning his next vacation—continuing his mission to live life to the fullest, both on and off the bike.
