Joshua Okwuazu, a graduate of southern Arkansas university, switched gears after spending some time in retail. After a while, he found himself looking for a career where he could better utilize his business skills. 

“I was eager for a career change and wanted to utilize my knowledge in a more challenging setting,” Joshua said. “FB&T does a lot for the community and is a well-respected bank in Magnolia. It was a blessing when I was offered a position in their Card Services & ATM Operations department.”

Since working at Farmers Bank & Trust, Joshua has developed key skills in building credit, the benefits of a certificate of deposits, and the steps one should take when buying a home. Working in card services, Joshua’s responsibilities include disputing charges on customer’s accounts, blocking and unblocking debit and credit cards, placing notices on accounts when customers are traveling, and imputing data in general ledgers to confirm the bank’s ATMs are balanced. 

“Working in a money field will allow you to not only serve customers but also help grow your knowledge about the different areas of money,” Joshua said. “Although I received some of this information while in college, working at FB&T has taught me so much more about money management.

“I don’t think people realize how many people work in banks and the roles they play to help banks achieve success. Of course, loan officers are well-known, but there are a ton of back-office workers that do a lot for the bank…[Several departments] come together to make sure that we meet our goals and be a pillar in the community!”
