Destany Lytle knew what she wanted to major in long before she went to college. The Floral native had always idolized her teachers. Even in college, she connected with her professors. She says one of the things she loves about her school is her instructors. At a degree center like ASU-Beebe’s, Destany can take classes with professors who teach at the main ASU campus in Jonesboro. When Destany graduates next year with a degree that will allow her to teach fourth through eighth grade, she’ll be well on her way to achieving her dreams.

How does a degree center work – what’s it like for you?

“A degree center is any accredited two-year institution that offers a four-year program on their campus. For example, I currently attend school at ASU-Beebe college, but I am a part of the Jonesboro program that they offer on their campus. So even though I am on the Beebe campus, I am degree-seeking with ASU Jonesboro.”

Program Details

A university center or degree center is the partnership between a two-year college and a four-year university that allows students to get selected bachelor’s degrees though the two-year college. Classes are taught by four-year university professors on the two-year school’s campus or via video. If you’d like to pursue a four-year degree, but can’t get to such a campus, this option might be for you.

Cost

You’ll pay tuition to the four-year university you’re enrolled with. Generally, classes cost the same as they would if you attended the school traditionally. However, you’ll still save some money by not having room and board fees.

Admission Requirements

Usually, a student must receive an associate degree from the two-year school, apply for and gain admission to the partnering four-year university and then enroll in classes from the four-year university, but attend them at the two-year school’s campus.
